Whether you’re wondering if you should draft a certain player for the season or start a certain player for Week 1, fantasy football owners need to know the latest injury updates. Key pass-catchers Darren Waller, Kadarius Toney, Zach Ertz, and Rondale Moore are all dealing with various ailments that have their opening-week statuses in question, which in turn affects their ADPs and rankings.
Below, we’ll give you the latest news on these players and break down how their injuries could potentially affect their fantasy outlooks heading into the season.
DOMINATE YOUR DRAFT: Ultimate 2022 fantasy cheat sheet
Darren Waller injury update, fantasy outlook
Waller (hamstring) returned to Raiders’ practice on Wednesday after barely getting on the field throughout training camp. It’s believed he wasn’t so much hurt as he was “holding in” because of contract negotiations.
Coach Josh McDaniels said he’s “excited” to get Waller back, and it certainly sounds like there’s little reason to be worried about his Week 1 status. Waller remains a top-five TE and has an ADP of 51, putting him in the fifth round of 12-team leagues. As long as he’s active, he’s a sure starter in all formats.

Kadarius Toney injury update, fantasy outlook
Toney (knee, leg) was on the practice field for the Giants on Wednesday, and beat writer Dan Duggan said he looked “100 percent.”
That’s obviously a great sign for Toney’s Week 1 status. He’s currently being drafted as the No. 47 WR (115 overall). Though that’s a bit high for our taste, Toney has plenty of sleeper appeal given his explosiveness and versatility. He’ll be a borderline WR3/flex against the Titans in Week 1.

Zach Ertz injury update, fantasy outlook
Ertz has reportedly been dealing with a calf injury since early August, and Cardinals’ coach Kliff Kingsbury said on Wednesday that he’ll “be close” for Week 1, meaning he’s not a sure thing to play against the Chiefs.
With Ertz going as the No. 9 TE off the board, he’s being counted on as a starter by his fantasy owners. He should still be drafted that early, as he’s unlikely to miss much, if any, time, but obviously this is a bit of a red flag. If he’s out Week 1, his fantasy owners will have to pivot to a sleeper like Cameron Brate (@ Cowboys), Albert Okwuegbunam (@ Seahawks), Mo Alie-Cox (@ Texans), or David Njoku (@ Panthers). Rookie Trey McBride and vet Maxx Williams would see snaps in Ertz’s place, but neither are viable fantasy options since we don’t know how they’ll split time.

Rondale Moore injury update, fantasy outlook
Moore (undisclosed) is another Cardinals’ pass-catcher who will “be close” for Week 1 against the Chiefs, according to coach Kliff Kingsbury. It’s still unclear what exactly is wrong with Moore and how long he’s been dealing with an issue.
Moore, like Toney, is a popular sleeper in fantasy drafts, going 142nd overall. Given his injury history, this is a worry, but until we know more, he shouldn’t be bumped down too far in drafts. He’s a decent Week 1 option in what should be a high-scoring game against Kansas City, especially with DeAndre Hopkins’ serving the first of his six-game suspension. If Moore is out, Marquise Brown gets a bump in value, and A.J. Green and Andy Isabella would also likely see more targets, though neither is trustworthy enough to use in fantasy leagues.
