The Mount Vernon City Fest, a celebration of arts and entertainment, was held Saturday on Gramatan Avenue.
The event features many types of food, art and live music. Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard says it is a great opportunity for the community to come out and enjoy the city.
Backpacks containing school supplies will be given out to children at the event.
Mount Vernon native J.B. Smooth, known for his role in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” will make a special guest appearance. Singer/songwriter Capella Grey will also perform.
The fest also includes a health resource center and immigration services. The celebration continues until 9 p.m.
