Manchester United have three top-level attackers within their ranks but are facing a striker shortfall.
Anthony Martial is still tending to his Achilles injury – his second setback of the season already – while Marcus Rashford is also sidelined with an issue. Cristiano Ronaldo is getting no younger at 37 and he may again push for an exit in January.
He’s started just three games this season, two of which have come while both Martial and Rashford have been out. Erik ten Hag may dip into the transfer market once more with a number of names already being linked with a potential switch.
One of those is Brentford forward Ivan Toney, who earned his first call-up to the England squad this week. Meanwhile, United have considerations to make at the other end of the pitch.
David de Gea has been at the club for 11 years but some fans are unsure whether the 31-year-old should be offered an extension beyond next summer when his current deal expires.
TODAY’S BIG TALKING POINT: Who should United buy in January?. Have your say here.
